On a warm sunny morning, the number one seed (Florida) came unstuck against a much improved number four seed (Deep South) in the first game of the day. Three converted tries was enough for the Deep South to hang on for a 21-19 points victory. The second game of the day also saw a much improved Palmetto (sixth seed)side convincingly defeat North Carolina Union (fifth seed) 37-12. The match up of the morning saw the Mid-South (third seed) prove to be too strong for the Georgia Union (second seed), winning 22-12. The second round of games saw Florida defeat Palmetto 52-12, and Georgia defeat North Carolina Union 46-10. The championship game saw the Mid-South turn on the style defeating the courageous Deep South side 53-12. This years championship was testiment to how rugby in the South is improving, with some sterling performances by the Deep South and the Palmetto Union. The Mid-South proved to be deserving winners playing some very cohesive and explosive rugby throughout both of their games. Congratulations go to Coach Curt Huckaby and the Mid-South players.

The day was made possible by the industrious Kerri O'Malley from the Florida Union and the hard work of the University of Florida women's rugby squad.

A South camp was held on Sunday morning by Randell Joseph (South Head Coach) and S. Nigel Platt (South Coach & Team Manager) for most of the sixty four players identified by the selectors during Saturday's games. The South camp/trial is scheduled for early/mid January at a venue TBD. All the selected players will be notified by e-mail on the venue and date of the South camp/trial, in the near future.
