South Selects 2005 Collegiate Men All-Stars

The 2005 South Collegiate All-Stars camp was held between the 17th and 20th of May at Davidson College, NC.  Over the three days, the 43 players in attendance were tested on their fitness, skills and knowledge of the game through various drills. A scrimmage was held on Friday morning to determine the final squad of 24 to represent the South in Boulder, CO from June 7th to the 12th .  The competition for places was fierce and hotly contested, with the coaching staff making the final two player choices after the scrimmage.  Three players who attended as walk-ons were selected, along with 21 who were identified at the LAU tournament held in November, 2005 in Greenville , SC.

A very special thank you goes out to all the players who attended and showed great commitment, along with special thanks to Davidson College, Thom Richmond (Team Manager) and his wife Sally, and the entire group of Davidson volunteers who showed everyone great hospitality and ensured everything ran smoothly and on time.

Thanks also go to the following clubs who have stepped forward to sponsor meals for the South squad: Atlanta Renegades RFC, Nashville Men's & Women's rugby club, Sarasota Exiles RFC & Greenville RFC.  If any other clubs are interested in sponsoring the squad, they can contact Team Manager - Thom Richmond at thompsonrichmond@bellsouthnet .
