Knoxville, TN - Victor Ashe Park

The South's premier high school sevens event will be held in Knoxville on July 12.  This is a true high school tournament (not to be confused with U19) with eligibility requirements based on high school enrollment. Players that are in high school or graduated from high school in the spring of 2008 are eligible to participate. For Immediate Release:

The sixteenth annual Jo Jo Moore Rugby Tournament will take place June
21, 2008 at New York Military Academy, Cornwall on Hudson, New York.
The Tournament is sponsored by White Plains Rugby Football Club and is held
each year to benefit one of its founding members, Matthew 'Jo Jo'
Moore, who has been a quadriplegic since suffering a severe spinal injury
fifteen years ago while playing rugby. The all-day event honors Jo Jo,
his wife Peggy, and their family, and celebrates rugby, friendship and
cheer among all who come to play and watch.

Jo Jo was born and raised in White Plains, and for 34 years until his
retirement in 2003, was a physical education and health teacher,
wrestling coach, and swimming coach in the Peekskill School System. In
addition, Jo Jo served as a New York State softball umpire and
volleyball official, volunteer fireman, church deacon and is the father
of four daughters. Jo Jo went back to teaching 2 years after his
accident, earned a second Masters Degree, continued to coach wrestling
and is now a volunteer health teacher at a small private school.

Past sponsors of the event included Union Carbide Corporation, Colgate
Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, CG Industrial Safety, Airtech
Environmental, and many others. This year High Falls Brewing Company
and Steinlager Beer are taking a lead role in helping with the event.
Thanks to New York Military Academy for hosting the tournament.

Tournament format is round robin competition with the first kickoff
planned for 9:00 AM. Rugby matches continue throughout the day with
final games scheduled for 4:00 PM followed by a party with live music
and dancing. Eighteen teams are expected in Divisions Old Boys (over
age 35), Club Sides, Under 19’s, and Women’s Division. Teams from New
 York
/ Connecticut / New Jersey / Rhode Island as far away as Albany and
 Boston are expected.

A “Walk-a-Mile-for Jo Jo” fund raiser will take place at noon the
day of the Tournament, all within the New York Military Academy grounds.
Public admission is FREE. Sponsorship and donations are greatly appreciated.
Proceeds go to helping Jo Jo Moore and his family. For more
 information, please contact the undersigned.

South Collegiate Men All Star Camp Details

Gentlemen,

We are excited to welcome the best collegiate men in the south to the 2008 All-Star camp in Atlanta next week.  Please review the details of the camp, and if you have questions please contact me immediately.  The schedule listed below is not comprehensive and is only meant to give you an idea of your time in Atlanta.  The schedule is subject to change at any time.  Please note that the South All Star team will be selected on Saturday afternoon.  Any player not selected is free to return home.  If a player chooses to stay in Atlanta, they will not be eligible to participate in any of the team events (dinner, team building, etc.).  Players not selected may stay with the team, but may have to sleep on the floor, as we will only have enough hotel rooms for the actual team due to budget constraints.

The team concept is paramount so all attendees (even those from Atlanta) will be required to stay at the team hotel.  The Wingate by Wyndham at 1250 Franklin Road; Marietta, GA  30067  (770) 989-0071

On behalf of Coach Atkinson and Coach Huckaby, welcome to the 2008 Collegiate Men’s All Star camp.

In conjunction with the Memphis Blues men's tournament Elvis 7's
we will be having a women's division which we are affectionately calling Priscilla
7's.  I talked to some of you about this tournament last year, but it was kind of
late in the season.  So now you've got plenty of time to plan a trip to the birth-
place of the blues.  (yep, I said it)

Have no doubt we will show you a GREAT time!  Spots are limited though, so
let me know as soon as possible if you're interested.

All the info you'll need should be up on the website next week, but in the mean=
time here's the url www.memphiswomensru gby.com/priscill a.php

You can contact me at priscilla@memphiswo mensrugby. com or at
901-574-1218 for any further info.

Give me a shout if you plan to make it.
And if you can't attend, please spread the word about the tourney.

Thanks,
